SCARBOROUGH — Richard W. Williamson, of Lewiston passed away Friday, May 12, at the Gosnell House in Scarborough.
Richard was born July 3, 1933, in Reading, Pa. He graduated from Reading High School, then joined the U.S. Navy, being deployed on submarines. His career specialized in electronics and he held several positions in that field, including Comsat in Andover. For several years, he served as an administrator at the Rumford Hospital and later as a selectman in Mexico, as well as owned and operated his own television repair business in Mexico. He was was active in Rotary and in the establishment of the local public television channel in the Rumford-Mexico area.
In earlier years, Richard enjoyed fishing and his years in Rotary. In later years, he enjoyed going on bus tours to plays, as well as trips to Canada. His main love was camping and he always enjoyed a good campfire.
Richard is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pearle Williamson of Lewiston; sons, Michael of Westbrook, David and his wife, Amy, of Windham, Paul of Auburn, and Ed and his companion, Cindy Coulthard, of Biddeford; daughter, Dawn of Virginia; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Joan Merryfield.
