Bishop to visit local church
MECHANIC FALLS — Bishop Brian Marsh, will visit the First Congregational Church at 10 a.m. Mother’s Day Sunday, May 14, at 64 Elm St.
Marsh will celebrate communion with the church’s pastor, Rev. Gary Drinkwater, and there will be a special remembrance for all mothers.
A reception and refreshments will follow the service, in the Fellowship Hall.
Christian Women United luncheon
PARIS — The Christian Women United luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m Tuesday, May 16, at the South Paris First Congregational Church, 17 E. Main St.
The singer will be Sammie Angel, from Dixfield.

Wilton Church Honduras talk
WILTON — Don and Maryjane Westra will discuss their many years in Honduras, working at a school helping young people learn trade at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the First Congregational Church.
Any one in the community who might be interested in some of the work that the church is doing to help people in Honduras are welcome to attend.
Self-worth to be explored at Lifetree Café
LEWISTON — Discoveries about developing a healthy sense of self-worth will be explored from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Lifetree Café, 1919 Lisbon Road.
The program, What’s Wrong Right with You? The Surprising Truth About Self-Worth, features an exclusive documentary film about a skid row project that provides makeovers for homeless mothers.
“Many people report feeling less than adequate,” Lifetree representative Craig Cable said. “During this program, we’ll examine a simple technique that greatly enhances self-worth, and helps people feel better about themselves.”
Admission is free. Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting.
