RUMFORD — Current or former smokers are invited to take part in the Rural Maine Lung Health Study, led by Erika Ziller and Jean Talbot from the University of Southern Maine.
Researchers are doing the study to understand rural Mainers’ ideas and experiences about smoking, lung cancer risks and health care providers. As part of the study, there will be a group discussion at the Rumford Municipal Building from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24.
Each member will receive a $40 grocery gift card and a $10 gas card. Pizza will be served.
Persons may qualify to take part if they are:
• A current or former smoker;
• Age 40 or older;
• A resident of Oxford County; and
• Someone who doesn’t get medical checkups often.
Participation is voluntary, and participants can decide which questions they want to answer.
