LEWISTON — Two popular local performers and an arthritis physician will provide the program for this month’s La Rencontre at 11:25 a.m Thursday, May 11, at the Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St.

The cost of the meal and the programs is $10 a person. The doors and the bar open at 10 a.m.

La Rencontre is not restricted to French-speakers or those of Franco descent. All are welcome to attend the monthly meal and event as long as spots remain open.

After lunch, Dr. Anne Brown from St. Mary’s Integrative Medicine will present the next “Healthy Gathering Series” topic on alternative pain management options: “Treating Pain without Medicine.” Brown will review the most common complimentary therapies used for pain, with an emphasis on arthritis.

The day will conclude a performance by keyboardist, Nel Meservier from the “Just Us Entertainers,” “C’est Si Bon” and other well-known groups, who will team up with guitarist and singer, Barry Wood of Jay. The duo will appear on the Performance Hall stage, and several raffle prizes will be drawn after the show.

The center is handicapped accessible and is located on the corner of Cedar and Oxford streets.
