SKOWHEGAN — Emma Lashua tripled and scored and produced an RBI in the fifth inning to lead Edward Little to a 3-1 victory over Skowhegan in softball action Friday afternoon.

Pitcher Kylie Bureau led off the fifth with a walk and scored on an RBI triple by Lashua. Lashua scored on an RBI single by freshman Anna LeBlanc.

Sydney Reed led off the sixth inning with a single for the Indians (3-1). Reed scored on an RBI double by Lindsey Warren. Skowhegan then had runners on second and third with one out, but a line drive to freshman third baseman Caroline Hammond was quickly scooped up, and she stepped on third to force the runner and end the threat.

Lewiston 13, Camden Hills 3

CAMDEN — Danielle Cyr gave up six hits in seven innings and drew ample run support as Lewiston cruised to a 13-3 rout over Camden Hills in an early-season softball tilt Friday.

Cyr helped her own cause with two hits and three RBIs, while Lexi Poulin and Megan Theriault each drove in a pair of runs. Jordyn Rubin, Jordan Mynahan and Kali Voss all pounded out two hits for the Blue Devils (3-1).

Laticia Billings led Camden Hills (0-3) with an RBI double, while Payton Wiley suffered the loss.

Poland 8, Lake Region 7

BRIDGTON — Poland took advantage of a throwing error in the seventh inning to edge Lake Region, 8-7, in a hard-fought softball tilt on Friday.

Amanda Gagne’s well-timed RBI sparked a three-run sixth inning for the Knights (4-0). Morgan Brousseau belted out three hits for Poland in a well-rounded effort.

The Lakers (0-3) were paced by Kaylyn Lorrain with two hits including an RBI double. Haley Fernald had a double and scored on an error as the Lakers’ late rally fell short.

Mountain Valley 6, Wiscasset 2

WISCASSET — Mountain Valley built a four-run advantage in the first three frames and hung on to record a 6-2 win over Wiscasset on Friday afternoon.

Emily Laubauskas scattered four hits for the Falcons (2-1) in seven innings of work. She also helped her own cause with an RBI triple in the fifth, which evolved into a home run given the interference on the play. Avery Sevigny contributed with three hits and two RBIs.

Sarah Casey led the Wolverines with two hits, while August Moore was tagged with the loss.

Oxford Hills 7, Hampden Academy 1

PARIS — Lauren Merrill went the distance, allowing only three hits and one run as Oxford Hills defeated Hampden Academy 7-1 in a KVAC softball contest.

Merrill also had an RBI double in a four-run bottom of the fourth inning for the Vikings (1-1). Hannah Kenney had two singles and three RBIs in the victory while Kaisa Heikkinen had a double.

Oxford Hills scored three times in the bottom of the first.

Grace Bennett drove in the lone Broncos (1-3) run in the top of third with a double.

Baseball

Lewiston 3, Camden Hills 1

CAMDEN — Lewiston put a pair of runs on the board in the sixth inning Friday to pull out a 3-1 victory over Camden Hills in a local baseball matchup.

Evan Cox led the Blue Devils (1-2) with an RBI single in the third stanza. Eddy Turgeon also contributed with a hit and one run scored.

Garrison Looke suffered the loss for Camden Hills (0-3) and led offensive efforts with two hits.

Edward Little 6, Skowhegan 3

SKOWHEGAN — Jarod Norcross Plourde scattered three hits and received adequate run support as Edward Little rolled to a 6-3 baseball victory over Skowhegan on Friday.

Tyler Libby led the Red Eddies (3-1) with two hits and two RBIs, while Tyler Blanchard also plated a pair of runs.

Garrett McSweeney suffered the loss after working the first six stanzas, while catcher Maxx Bell scored two runs.

Oxford Hills 5, Hampden Academy 2

PARIS — Junior catcher Kaden Cutler roped a double in the fourth inning to plate the game-winning run as Oxford Hills dispatched Hampden Academy 5-2 in baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Vikings (2-0) received fine pitching from Troy Jackson, who scattered nine hits over 5 and 2/3 innings. Janek Luksza picked up the save.

Andrew Gendreau collected two hits and an RBI for the Broncos (2-2) in the losing effort.

Lake Region 9, Poland 3

BRIDGTON — Luke Neal struck out four as Lake Region cruised to a 9-3 victory over Poland in baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Lakers (1-2) strung together a series of singles and took advantage of a few walks and errors for a seven-run fifth inning.

Senior short stop Ben Bernier manufactured three hits for the Knights (2-2) in the losing effort.

Rangeley 5, Temple 4

RANGELEY — Senior first baseman Ricky Thompson roped a double as Rangeley edged Temple 5-4 in baseball action Friday afternoon.

Carl Trafton and Zac Trafton had a single each for the Lakers (1-0) in an error-ridden game that featured only three hits by Rangeley, and a single hit by Temple.

Catcher Nathaniel Will produced the lone hit for the Bereans (0-2) in the losing effort.

Girls’ lacrosse

Lewiston 8, Portland 3

LEWISTON — Christine Chasse netted four goals to lead Lewiston to an 8-3 victory over Portland in girls’ lacrosse action Friday afternoon.

The Blue Devils (1-0) jumped out to a 7-0 lead at halftime. Sasah Leclair and Chasse provided two assists each.

Sophia Leavitt collected all three of the Bulldogs’ (0-2) goals.

Goalie Abby Krieckhau made 11 saves for Portland, while goalie CeCe Racine stopped seven for Lewiston in the winning effort.

Hebron 10, Kents Hill 4

HEBRON — Avery Jurek scored four times, including the first and last goals of the first half, as Hebron coasted to a 10-4 victory over Kents Hill in girls’ lacrosse action Friday eveing.

The Lumberjacks (2-1) rattled off xis goals in the first half. Sofia Castriotta and Evelyn Turnbaugh booted two goals each.

Kelly McCarthy found the back of the net on three ocassions in the first half for the Huskies (1-5) in the losing effort.

Boys’ lacrosse

Edward Little 17, Windham 7

WINDHAM — Senior attackman Ganan Mancini scored six goals and added four assists as Edward Little bolted to a 17-7 victory over Windham in boys’ lacrosse action Friday evening.

The Red Eddies (2-2) netted seven goals in the first quarter for a 7-2 lead. Senior goalie Brandon Asselin made 25 saves to earn the win in net for Edward Little.

Attackman Tyler Woolston paced the Eagles (1-2) with three goals and two assists in the losing effort.
