FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Budget Advisory Committee will meet Friday to discuss a proposed $6.2 million spending plan for 2017-18.

Chairman Joshua Bell, a Farmington selectman, will lead the meeting at 5 p.m. at the Franklin County Courthouse.

Of the proposal, $2 million is for the jail. It is $338,738 more than the current jail budget. After factoring in revenue, the net expense would be $1.82 million.

The county government budget is proposed at $4.21 million, $4,673 less than the current budget. After revenues are factored in, the net expense would be $3.6 million.

County commissioners previously eliminated or reduced amounts for most program grants by a total of $148,130. Some requests were not funded, including a $60,000 request from the Greater Franklin Development Council and a $10,000 request from Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services.

A majority of the budget panel sat through the commissioners’ review of the budget April 18 and 19.

The panel did not call any of the departments or agencies back for Friday’s meeting for more discussion.
