Jupiter Night at observatory

PARIS — The Twitchell Observatory will point toward Jupiter during the next Open Observatory night from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday, May 4. 

If skies are clear, visitors will see the shadow of Jupiter’s moon, Io, move across the face of the planet. Those who arrive before 9 p.m. will see Jupiter’s Great Red Spot. The grand finale of the night will be at 9:30 p.m. when Io will be visible on Jupiter’s edge with its shadow on the planet. 

Those attending should check the observatory’s website for weather postponements. Jupiter Night is free to attend.

Story hour at New Sharon library

NEW SHARON — The Jim Ditzler Memorial Library will hold a story hour from 10:30 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, May 4 and 18.

There will be stories, crafts and snacks.

Texas Hold Em’ poker

PARIS — The AMVETS’s monthly Texas Hold Em’ poker tournaments are held at 6 p.m. on the first Friday of the month at the VFW Hall at 58 East Main St.

Next Tournament will be Friday, May 4.

The doors and the kitchen will open at 5 p.m. There will be a 50/50 raffle.

Donations sought for plant sale

JAY — The Treat Memorial Library will have a fundraiser plant sale during History Night weekend, Friday to Sunday, May 26 to 28.

The library is seeking donations for the sale and volunteers.
