WALES — Oak Hill High School will be getting a new roof.

Residents in Litchfield, Sabattus and Wales voted 219-40 Tuesday to spend up to $1 million to replace the high school’s aging roof. About two-thirds of that amount will be paid for by the state.

If the project costs the full $1 million, Regional School Unit 4 would pay about $370,600 using a 10-year, no-interest loan.

The towns voted as follows:

• Litchfield, 80-34;

• Sabattus, 77-3; and

• Wales, 62-3.

Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said the school board will discuss the project’s timeline at Wednesday night’s meeting. The district has 14 months to finish the work.

“I’m happy for the board and for the towns,” Hodgkin said. “I think this is a great opportunity to get pretty substantial work done for a pretty significant discount.”
