GRAY — Josiah Rottari scored both of Gray-New Gloucester’s runs in a 2-1 victory over Wells in an early-season WMC contest Tuesday.

Rottari reached on an error in the bottom of the second, moved to second when Jake Winchester was hit by a pitch and scored on a William Shufelt single.In the bottom of the sixth, he reached on an error and moved to second on a wild pitch. Winchester drove in him with a single.

Wells (1-1) scored its run in the fifth inning as Matt Tufts got on base with a double and later scored on an infield error.

Both pitchers threw complete games. Zach Mann got the victory for Gray-New Gloucester (2-2) and Ryan Sousa picked up the loss for Wells.

St. Dom’s 8, Waynflete 2

PORTLAND — Ben Gosselin keyed a big first inning for St. Dom’s with a two-run double as the Saints put up five runs and cruised to an 8-2 win over Waynflete in early-season WMC baseball action on Tuesday,

Gosselin finished with a pair of hits for the Saints (1-0). Mack Pelletier went the distance on the mound, tossing six innings and striking out 10 Wayflete batters.

Will LaFlamme also belted a pair of hits for St. Dom’s.

Jack Winson ripped two hits and drove in one of the Flyers’ two runs in the loss. Michael Silk was tagged for the loss on the hill.

Winthrop 3, Dirigo 0

WINTHROP — Matt Ingram shut down Dirigo on Tuesday, tossing a complete-game two-hitter while striking out 10 to help Winthrop get past the Cougars, 3-0.

Ingram also got things done at the plate, ripping a pair of singles to help his own cause. The Ramblers (1-1) put up two runs in the first inning and tacked on a third run in the fifth to complete the scoring.

Cooper Chiasson and Chandler Redmond each had a single in the loss for Dirigo (1-2). Mason Corriveau was solid on the mound in the loss, allowing just seven total hits, four of which came in that first inning.
