LEWISTON — Creative Artisans of Maine, a group of talented local artists/craftspeople, will conduct classes at Provenchers Landscape and Nursery, 299 River Road, during May.
Jewelry-making will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 6.
Attendees will make a Tree of Life pendant using copper, jeweler’s brass or plated copper wire and natural gemstone chips or colored crystals. They will take home a finished pendant on a leather cord. Instructor: Lisa Marshall, 2 Blue Gems; cost, $45; tools/supplies included.
Parchment craft classes, also known as Pergamano, will be held. A demonstration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 7. Certified Pergamano instructor will be Martha Levesque. Three beginner classes will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, May 20 and 27 and June 3. The cost is $25 each.
Parchment craft is the art of embellishing and decorating parchment paper through the use of techniques such as embossing, perforating, stippling, cutting and coloring. Tools and supplies will be provided.
Once participants have learned basic techniques, they can continue developing the craft in an advance weekly two-hour card class held from 1 to 3 p.m. every Saturday for $12 a class. Sessions will be taught by Levesque.
“The ABC’s of Juicing” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 7. Attendees will learn what type of juicer is best and why juicing is good for health. Juice will be made in class and samples will be available. The introduction will be taught by certified raw food chef and coach Cheryl Horton, Living in the Raw. Cost of $20 includes supplies.
Chocolate-making will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 7. Participants will make cake pops and take them home in a mug. Instuctor: Ella Raibert, Ella’s Chocolates; cost, $30; supplies included
A succulent terrarium-making session will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 7. Participants will create a succulent planter decorated with sands and fairy garden miniatures. Instructor, Celeste Yakawonis, Party’n With Plants Maine; cost, $25; tools and supplies included.
Essential Oil in the Home will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20. Using essential oils, attendees will create a cleaning spray, powdered cleanser and toilet cleaning pod that are safe on the environment and family. Instructor: Cheryl Horton, Living in the Raw; cost: $25; supplies included.
Jewelry-making, memory wire bracelet or earrings, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20. Students will make two-coil bracelets or earrings utilizing varied gemstone, glass and metal beads and charms. Instructor: Lisa Marshall, 2 Blue Gems; cost: $20; supplies and tools included.
A free style show will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 4. Some materials are woven in Maine and all clothing is made in Maine.
Levesque will give a parchment craft demonstration from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4.
