WINDHAM — Charlotte E. (Aldrich) Hammond, a longtime resident of New Gloucester, passed away in her sleep Thursday, April 13, at Ledgewood Manor in Windham, one day after her 95th birthday.

She was born April 12, 1922, in South Paris and was the daughter of Cora Bell Wilson and the Rev. Herbert Aldrich. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of New Gloucester.

In her youth, Charlotte enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Throughout her life, she worked as a seamstress at various locations. She loved being with her family and enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, watching the birds, playing beano and reading. She loved the various cats she had including Muffin, Tippy, Bandit and Smokey.

Charlotte is survived by her two children, Robert R. Parker and his wife, Ann, and Cynthia J. Leavitt; four grandchildren, Brenda Paradis and her husband, Dan, Susan Laskey and her husband, Mark, Judy Smadu and her husband, Peter, and Janet Webb and her husband, Derek. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Hunnewell, Zachary Laskey and Christopher Paradis. She is also survived by special nieces and nephew, Karen Hurney, Michelle Hawkins and Mike Cote.

Charlotte was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Kirk Hammond Jr.; her son-in-law, Raymond Leavitt Jr.; and her siblings, Gladys, Louise, Genevieve and Herbert Aldrich.
