LEWISTON —The YWCA in Lewiston, 130 East Ave., is offering a wide range of classes and training sessions.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, April 23, April 30 and May 7. Teaches currently certified American Red Cross Lifeguards 17 years of age and older how to teach the Lifeguard Training Course including CPR/AED for professional rescuers and health care providers/First Aid. Must pass skills review and written tests on the first day of class. Online learning required before the first day of class. Cost: Members, $225; non-members, $250. Must register by April 15 with American Red Cross and pay additional fee of $35.

YWCA Tiger Sharks USA Swim Team: For youths ages 5-18 years old interested in competitive swimming. Head coach Will McCorkle will focus on stroke development, increasing endurance and nutrition. Swimmers will practice at the same time with swimmers of the same ability and speed in each lane. Recommended that swimmers attend three practices a week. Swimmers with conflicting sport schedule who can only come to only one or two practices are welcome. Team will participate in USA swim meets this summer (optional). Travel is required for all meets. To join, youth must be able be able to swim two continuous laps (50 yards) one freestyle and one backstroke. Summer session begins Monday, April 24, and runs through Aug. 10 from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning June 21. Wednesday practice also available from 9 to 10 a.m.

Paddleboard Stretch and Strength: Thursdays, April 27 to May 26. A unique opportunity to become comfortable with a paddle board while gaining core fitness through Pilates strength poses. Begins with a swim and paddle warm up series before beginning a mix of abdominal fitness moves, presented in various levels to accommodate all abilities. Finishes with a tranquil set of yoga postures and stretches. Balance techniques will be introduced progressively. Must preregister. Instruction by Ian Barclay of Skindiver’s Paradise.

YWCA Lap and Learn: 6 to 7 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. A master program for adults age 18 and older. Structured workouts that support swimmers to attain their individual goals. Coached by William McCorkle, a USA-certified head coach of YWCA Tiger Sharks. Cost: Members, $5; non-members, $7 per class.

Registration is now available for YWCA American Red Cross swimming lessons beginning the week of May 22, running through July 1. The YWCA offers a wide range of lessons including: Parent and Child, Preschool (ages 3 to 5), Beginner Levels, Intermediate Levels and Adult Beginner lessons.

The YWCA pool is available for rental for kayaking, paddleboard, Boy Scout or Girl Scout training, scuba diving and other activities.
