TURNER — Kurt Youland was re-elected chairman of the Board of Selectmen and Angelo Terreri was re-elected vice chairman at Tuesday’s meeting.

Town Manager Kurt Schaub told the board that Bob Thompson, executive director of the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, has confirmed AVCOG expects to have a replacement when Town Planner John Maloney retires in June.

In another matter, Schaub said John O’Donnell informed the town that his firm will not continue annual assessing work as of June 30. John E. O’Donnell & Associates had been slated to take on a $200,000 property revaluation project, but the proposal was voted down at April’s town meeting.

The board asked Schaub to draft a request for proposals to hire another service.

In other matters, Selectman Kevin Nichols requested the board revisit road construction plans. The board agreed to postpone paving Mountainside Drive and use the money to continue work on much-needed improvements to East Hebron Road.

Youland said a stand of trees on top of the next excavation area in the gravel pit needs to be removed, and the board agreed to hire a local logger to clear the 2- to 3-acre parcel.

The board also:

• Approved a liquor license request for Terry and Maxine’s diner, site of the former Chick-A-Dee restaurant;

• Announced a public hearing by the Maine Department of Transportation at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at the Town Office on plans to replace the North Parish Road Bridge next year; and

• Voted to proceed with Eagle Scout Nathan Pack’s project to construct changing booths at the town beach.
