JEANNE DUBORD SHATTUCK

1936 – 2017

JEANNE DUBORD SHATTUCK, 80, passed away April 9, 2017 at her home on West Mechanic Street, Corinth following a short illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 5, 1936 at the family home in Livermore Falls, Maine. Jeanne was the daughter of Joseph L. Dubord and Malvina (Fournier) Dubord. She was 1 of 13 children. Jeanne received her education at St. Rose of Lima Parochial School and Jay High School.

In 1956, Jeanne met Herbert “Corky” Shattuck while on a trip to Corinth to visit relatives. Corky swept Jeanne off her feet. The feeling was mutual and Corky proposed. Approximately a year later on June 29, 1957 Jeanne and Corky were married in Jay, Maine. Once married they made their home in Corinth, where they raised their 6 children. Jeanne and Corky would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June of this year.

Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother, and beloved “Mem-Mem” to 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She loved her coffee, sewing, quilting, gardening, church, slot machines, watching the television show “Survivor” and traveling often with her daughter Debi and son-in-law Brad Stein.

Jeanne was known for her practical jokes (in particular her April Fool’s pranks) as well as her quick wit, sense of humor, and her compassion and kindness to others. To us, her children, she was a phenomenal mother, always there for advice, a firm hand when necessary coupled with lots of love and affection. As we each grew into adulthood, she became our best friend, mentor and confidant.

Soon after sending her youngest child off to kindergarten, Jeanne began a 24 year career as a teaching assistant in the Corinth School System where she enriched the lives of and assisted in the education of countless elementary students.

Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Claire Castonguay and Pauline Guerin and her brothers, Norman, Rene, Frank, and Lionel Dubord as well as her beloved son-in-law and fellow mischief maker/partner in crime, Brad Stein.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, “Corky” of Corinth, her 6 children Linda (Bill) Kloss of Corinth, Debi Stein of Aurora, IL, JoAnn (Jay) Ellis of Lake Luzerne, Susan (Chris) Granger of Woodstock, IL, Drew Shattuck of Porter Corners and Cynthia Vaughan of Queensbury. Her 8 grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Burke; Alex (Allison) Burke, Courtney (Justin) Anderson; Jeremy Jenkins, Caleb Vaughan; Andrew Granger; Jaynie Ellis and Cole Shattuck. Her 4 great-grandchildren, Alivia, Miles and Eliott Burke and Collin Anderson. She is also survived by her siblings, Joseph (Shirley) Dubord; Maurice (Nancy) Dubord; Andre (Elaine) Dubord; Anne Duguay; Lucille Dubord and Louise (Raymond) LeBlanc along with many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom reside in Maine.

Jeanne’s family would especially like to thank her longtime girlfriends, Ann Marie Francato and Margaret Whitford; in addition to: Ronnie Whitford, Don Bolduc, Dave Roberts and her neighbors, Kathy, Steve and Debbie for being supportive not only to Jeanne but to the entire family. In addition, special thanks to Dr. William Tedesco and Eddy Visiting Nurse, Bethany Hopkins, for the compassion and care provided to Jeanne in her last few weeks and sincere gratitude to Angela Phillips at Densmore Funeral Home for her assistance and compassion in helping us with funeral arrangements and in making this difficult process easier.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
