DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 56 board of directors will decide by next week whether to get legal advice for a dispute over the services of a social worker, Chairwoman Barbara Chow said at Tuesday’s meeting.

The two districts are in talks about sharing services once RSU 56 — four towns that withdrew from RSU 10 last year —  begins operating July 1.

RSU 56 voted to allow RSU 10 to purchase two days of the social worker’s services, RSU 56 interim Superintendent Brenda Gammon said, but she and RSU 10 Superintendent Deborah Alden don’t agree on which district owns the service.

In other business, the board heard from Dirigo Wellness Center manager Karen Phair about its exercise program for the community. The center is at Dirigo High School in Dixfield and is owned by the district. Budgeting for the center will be addressed over the next few months.
