BUXTON — The Originals will present the Maine premiere of the Irish romantic comedy “Chapatti” on two successive weekends in April at the Saco River Theatre, 29 Salmon Falls Road.

Written by Christian O’Reilly, the play features Originals’ founders Dana Packard and Jennifer Porter in their second duo appearance in two years. They performed in last spring’s wartime drama, “A Picasso.”

The story is about two lonely animal lovers living in Dublin, Ireland. Through a chance encounter, Dan and his beloved dog, Chapatti, cross paths with Betty and her 19 cats. An unexpected spark sets the stage for an uplifting story about two people rediscovering the importance of human companionship.

Peformances are at 7:30 p.m. April 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29; and 2:30 p.m., April 23. A talk with the actors will follow the Sunday matinee.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for students and seniors. The April 27 performance is pay by donation. Reservations are advised.
