With all of the discourse all around, both in life and in politics, there is some comfort in knowing that Maine is well represented in Washington, D.C. In the early 1990s, I met with Sen. Susan Collins on education issues and I did so again more recently.
Whether it is education, business or social issues, I find that she has the courage to do what she perceives as being right. Then again, she has always stood on her principles, a quality that I admire.
It would be of comfort if some of the rhetoric in Washington could be toned down, but if it can’t, then I look to Sen. Collins, who not only knows what is right for Maine, but for the nation. Her tireless efforts are appreciated now, more than ever.
