LEWISTON — Tiffany Tripp is this month’s featured artist at Wicked illustrations Studio and Gallery. Tripp was raised in Gray. She married her high school sweetheart in 1987, and over the next 27 years dedicated herself to raising their three sons and one daughter on the muddy clay banks of the Royal River in New Gloucester. It was there, together, they spent time gardening, canning, making maple syrup, snowmobiling and camping. Being outdoors was a large part of raising their children. She worked as a caregiver for the elderly, volunteered as a youth leader at her local church, and even chaperoned a missions trip to Mexico.

With her children grown and no more “muddy toes” to wash, she accepted the invitation of a friend to join pottery classes. It gave her the opportunity to be creative, to let the clay go wherever she formed it, and found herself immersed in all that she did, whether on the wheel or doing slab building.

Amazed at how therapeutic the whole process was, she soon found herself with more pottery than she could use, and with no desire to stop. So she found an outlet for her work and Muddy Toes Pottery was born.

Tripp’s work is fun and elegant with beautiful colors swirling together with great design and construction. Her pieces will be on display through April. There will also be a display of student art work in May.
