FARMINGTON — United Way and experts in fraud, risk management and cyber-security will offer a free workshop called “Staying Safe: Emerging Threats” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in the Bass Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
This workshop is specifically designed for non-profits. Lunch will be provided.
Presenters Andy Grover, Bangor Savings Bank senior vice president and chief risk officer, and Russell Patton, the bank’s chief information security officer, will provide a vital overview of the types of risks and emerging threats to nonprofit organizations today and how staff and board members of nonprofit organizations can protect their organization and donors.
Topics will include:
• Occupation fraud and internal controls;
• Common types of fraud;
• Implementation of adequate controls with limited resources;
• Board responsibilities and oversight;
• Cyber-security;
• Vendor and volunteer relationships;
• Online payments and payment card processing;
• Network and wireless infrastructure; and
• Phishing and other social engineering threats.
This event is free and open to all non-profits. Attendance is limited and participants must register.
