U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin ran on a pledge to work for his constituents, but now when it counts, he is missing-in-action. By endorsing the Republican plan to upend the Affordable Care Act, he has broken that pledge. Sadly he is putting his constituents second to the ideological needs of his party.
We have all heard the Congressional Budget Office estimate that 24 million Americans will lose their coverage during the next 10 years if the American Health Care Act goes through. For those who don’t trust the Budget Office, try the White House numbers that leaked recently — 26 million through 10 years.
Those people who are young and healthy might save a few dollars, but those who are older and low income will be hammered.
Rep. Poliquin must know that the proposal is a bad deal for the Second District.
