GREENE — Gerry Henry, 79, of Greene but a longtime resident of Turner, passed peacefully away at his home Tuesday, March 14.
He was born in Rochester, N.H., on April 27, 1937. He attended Turner schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute in 1955, and later attended Bliss College. He then went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He married his true love, Carolyn Maxwell, on June 30, 1961, in Turner; together they settled in Turner to raise their three daughters.
Gerry was a gentle soul, with a wry sense of humor that appeared at the least expected times. He was a minor league baseball pitcher in his early 20s. He had a love of the game of golf and enjoyed nothing more than being on the golf course. He was an avid sports fanatic, backing his favorite teams: Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. If you wanted to hear a good story, all you needed to do was sit down and talk with Gerry. He will be missed.
He is survived by his dog, Salty; his wife, Carolyn Henry; his three daughters, Robin Henry-Pearl, Tania Henry and Heather Carpenter; Daniel Pearl, Mark Carpenter and Ben Chalich are his surviving sons-in-law; and his beloved four grandchildren, Mykel Jakob Henry, Jayden Carpenter, Noah Carpenter and Sage Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Grace Henry; and his brother, Frederick Henry.
