Heating program accepting applications
FARMINGTON — Western Maine Community Action Inc. is scheduling appointments for residents of Franklin County who have not applied since Aug. 1, 2016, for the Low Income Home Heating Assistance Program.
HEAP is a supplemental program that is meant to assist in paying part of a household’s heating costs. Applications will be taken through April 30 for this program year. Applicants must have an appointment.
The information gathered during the intake process for HEAP is also used for the Electric Lifeline Program. ELP may be able to assist those eligible with a credit on their Central Maine Power Company bill.

Seniors to visit sugar shack
RUMFORD — The Rumford Seniors will take a bus trip to Jillson’s Sugar Shack in Sabattus on Monday, April 10. Sign up is required by March 24. The bus will leave the Senior Center at 9:30 a.m.
The cost of the trip is $31 for members and $36 for non-members.
Western Foothills Homebrewers meeting
NORWAY — A meeting of the Western Foothills Homebrewers will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the headquarters of the Center for an Ecologically Based Economy (CEBE), 447 Main St.
The meeting is free to the public. All homebrewers are invited to attend and encouraged to bring ideas, brewing tips and recipes.

SeniorsPlus representatives in Bethel
BETHEL — Representatives from SeniorsPlus will be in Bethel at the Norway Saving Bank from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 16.
They will be on hand to answer questions or concerns about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families.
This event is free and open to the public.

CV Academy fundraiser nets $88K
CARRABASSETT VALLEY — This winter, Carrabassett Valley Academy held its annual scholarship fundraiser, raising over $88,000 to provide financial support for student athletes in pursuit of their dreams.
The $1,000 Early Bird winner was Bud Kellett of Yarmouth, who purchased his ticket online. His name had been drawn live on WSKI Thursday morning.
The $10,000 Grand Prize winner was Stephen Colbert of Wellesley, Massachusetts. Stephen’s son, Christopher, is in his first year in the CVA Snowboard Weekend Program.
Alumni and other donors provided auction items.
Rangeley food pantry hours
RANGELEY — The Rangeley Ecumenical Food Pantry, located in the undercroft of the Church of the Good Shepherd at 2614 Main St., will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays during March through May.
Community members unable to visit during these hours are encouraged to email the pantry with times to be considered for extended hours in June.
