Members of the Marijuana Legalization Implementation Committee listen to Eddie DuGay of Harvest Consulting during a tour of Remedy Compassion Center in Auburn on Friday. Members toured the Wellness Connection of Maine medical marijuana cultivation center in Auburn, the Remedy dispensary and a caregiver in Winthrop during a “fact-finding mission,” DuGay, a lobbyist for Remedy and Maine Organic Therapy in Ellsworth, said. DuGay said the 17-member committee is gathering information to answer the question, “How do we roll into the recreational market?” Scott Reed, executive director for Remedy, said the dispensary serves 200 to 250 patients a day and the average age of his patients is 66. Cannabis-infused food items, tinctures and lotions are where Reed sees the most growth. Reed said about 35 percent of sales is from “non-bud” items. Marijuana buds are what is smoked. Committee members are, from left, Rep. Kim Monaghan, Rep. Teresa Pierce, Sen. Roger Katz, Rep. Bruce Bickford and Rep. Don Marean.
