I happened to see the photo (March 3) and caption about how the maple syrup season seems to have come early. Wow, I love maple syrup, but I can’t help but wonder how the abnormal winter we’ve had this year is going to affect the future of the maple syrup industry, and if I will be able to enjoy my pancakes and syrup in the future.
But I am not writing about just syrup, though. It is all about climate change. With the warmer temperatures, we may start to observe the decline of sugar maples in Maine. Imagine what the outdoors would look like in the fall without the glorious colors that make me, and so many other people, at peace with the world.
