WELD — A special election is set for 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at the Town Office to elect a selectman to replace Douglas Voter, who resigned last week.

Town Clerk Carol Cochran said nomination papers are available at the Town Office during regular business hours. They must be returned by Wednesday, March 15. The office is usually closed on Wednesdays, but Cochran said she will be available should anyone need to return papers then.

Cochran said state law provides for a shorter time period to return nomination papers when a special election is called.

Voter, who was elected to a three-year term last year, declined to give a reason for his resignation. There are two years remaining on the term.
