RUMFORD — Carleen Philbrick, 92, died Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Rumford Hospital. She was a resident of Summit Street in Mexico.

Born in Madrid, on March 8, 1924, she was a daughter of Walter and Jenny (Birdina) Spaulding. She was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1942. Carleen worked for the Oxford Paper Co. in Rumford, the Rumford school system and Rumford Hospital as a custodian.

Carleen loved card games with her sisters, camping and snowmobiling with her family and crocheting. She was so proud to see the Patriots win their fifth Super Bowl, one that she had predicted. Her greatest joys were her family and their gatherings and her dog “Buddy.” Carleen always helped those who asked and her generosity and love will be missed by all.

She was married in Mexico, on Feb. 15, 1943, to Joseph Philbrick who died in Norway, on July 11, 1998.

Survivors include her three daughters, Joleen Treadwell and her husband, Harvey, of Mexico, Janice Dolloff of Peru and Betty Salatino and her husband, James, of Dixfield; a son, Colin Philbrick and his wife, Jean, of Dixfield; a sister, Christine Schmersal of Mexico; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband; and two great-grandsons, Joseph and Lucas Dolloff.
