Retirement plan
What happened: Selectmen set the employee and town contributions for each employee’s IRA.
What it means: The town and employees will each contribute 3 percent, as has been done in years past. Since Town Manager Cindy Dunn will not recommend employee raises this year, contribution to the retirement plan will remain the same for the 2018 budget.
Winter roads
What happened: Dunn gave an update on the winter roads budget and thanked Public Works Department employees for their efforts during the most recent storm.
What it means: As of Tuesday, 77 percent, or $105,202, of the winter roads budget has been spent. This leaves $29,683 for the remainder of the winter season. Dunn said she couldn’t speak highly enough of the Public Works employees. “I want to publicly thank the road crew,” she said. “Considering the storm, the nature of the storm, the speed of the storm, the fast accumulation, I feel they did an outstanding job.”
What’s next: With more snow on the way, it is possible the town will go over its winter roads budget, which Dunn said can legally happen. She will submit a form to Oxford County Emergency Management Agency so it can be sent to the governor and federal government to try and recoup some of the money spent on the storms.
Review postponed
What happened: Selectmen voted to postpone Dunn’s annual job review until Selectman Michael Iveson could be in attendance.
What it means: They will conduct the review in executive session at their next meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.
What’s next: Selectmen will hold another executive session in March to discuss Dunn’s contract and act on it in public session afterward.
Handbook review postponed
What happened: Selectmen voted to postpone reviewing the town’s Personnel Policy and Procedures Handbook and bylaws until Iveson is present.
What it means: They will begin their biennial review of the policies and bylaws at their next meeting Feb. 21.
