LIVERMORE FALLS — The Holland Strong Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday at Round Pond in Livermore Falls was a success, according to Deb Roberts, the mother of Michael Holland.

This was the second year the derby was held in memory of Holland to raise money for a scholarship in his name.

Holland, 25, of Wilton, was one of 33 crew members who died aboard the SS El Faro, a cargo ship that sank in the Bahamas on Oct. 1, 2015, during Hurricane Joaquin.

The results of the derby are:

* 1st prize of $1,200 went to Buddy Cooper, who caught a 17 5/8-inch trout.

* 2nd prize of $600 went to Ryan Mayhew, who caught a 14 7/8-inch trout.
