FARMINGTON — The Regional School Unit 9 board voted 11-2 Tuesday to accept its Contract Resolution Committee’s recommendation to give a 2.03 percent wage increase to nonunion Central Office staff, Superintendent Tom Ward said Wednesday.

The action on the office staff contract and another one for nonunion nutritional staff followed a nearly two-hour executive session. There was a 30-minute-plus executive session on the nonunion contracts on Jan. 10 with no action taken.

The contracts do not include administrators.

Personnel positions for Central Office staff under this category are clerical staff, administrative assistant, human resources, accounts payable, payroll and two administrative assistants at the bus garage, Ward said.

The contract also includes a longevity adjustment for long-term employees that will cost the district a total of $7,488, he said.

Directors Craig Stickney of Chesterville and Keith Swett of Wilton opposed the vote on a contract for Central Office staff. Approving it were Directors Doug Dunlap, Scott Erb, Iris Silverstein, Tami Labul, all of Farmington, Chairwoman Jennifer Zweig Hebert of Starks, Vice Chairwoman Betsey Hyde of Temple, Cheriann Harrison of Wilton, Jennifer Pooler of New Sharon, Helen Wilkey of Vienna, Richard Hargreaves of New Vineyard and Robert Patterson of Industry.

Absent were Directors Ryan Morgan of Farmington, Angie LeClair of Wilton and Nancy Crosby of Weld.

The board voted unanimously to accept the Contract Resolution Committee’s recommendation for a 2.01 percent wage increase for nonunion school nutrition staff. The one year contract is retroactive to July 1, 2016.

More nonunion staff contracts are being negotiated. Negotiations on the contracts were delayed last year because the district had to do a second budget, Ward said.
