Socrates Cafe to talk facts

WATERFORD — Socrates Cafe will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the Waterford Library.

The discussion topic will be “What are Facts in Our Modern Society?” with Joanne Morse moderating.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Knitting guild to meet

OXFORD — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the home of Eleanor Heidrich on Main Street.

Those attending will knit and chat followed by a potluck luncheon and an exchange of Valentines. Those attending should wear red for Heart Month.

The meeting will be canceled if school is canceled for inclement weather, and the meeting will move to the next month.

OXFORD — The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club winners on Jan. 27 were, first in flight A and B, Cynthia and Bill Clifford Jr.; second in A and B, Norma and Rick Verrill; third in A, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; fourth, Cathy Sanderson and Les Buzzell; third in B and first in C, Denny Raymond and Jim Dickens; fourth in B and second in C, Milt McKeen Jr. and Jim Krainin; third in C, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; and, fourth, Arlen Riis and Elaine Dresser.

Games are played at 9:15 a.m. Fridays in the recreation building on King Street. All bridge players are welcome, and a partner is always guaranteed.
