MIDDLETON, Mass. — Walker Hamilton scored 2:26 into overtime to lift the visiting L/A Fighting Spirit over the East Coast Minutemen, 3-2, in an NA3HL game at Essex Sports Center on Sunday.
The win gave the Fighting Spirit a weekend sweep of the home-and-home series, after Saturday’s 4-1 win in Lewiston.
Hamilton’s goal finished off a game that saw back-and-forth scoring throughout. Jonathan Donaghey gave the Spirit the lead in the first and Shamus Lombardi tied it up for the Minutemen in the second.
The Fighting Spirit re-took the lead just over five minutes into the third on a Shayne Plummer goal, only Jon Mathieu to tie it back up for East Coast two minutes later.
Thomas Kuntz assisted on both Plummer and Hamilton’s goals. Dylan Vrees and Patrick Halpin picked up assists on Donaghey’s goal.
Michael Errico made 29 saves in net for L/A, while Dom Montecalvo faced 53 shots for East Coast, stopping 50 of them.
