AUBURN — Winterfest 2017 is quickly approaching, and if this winter so far is any indication, the weather should be snowy, yet not too cold.
In other words, perfect.
Winterfest 2017 runs from Friday, Jan. 27, to Sunday, Jan. 29, offering a variety of activities throughout the three-day event.
A snow playground and free skating downtown will be offered all three days, weather permitting.
Lost Valley Ski Area on Friday will host free sledding for children, snacks and a torchlight parade.
On Saturday, Lost Valley will hold the Baxter Duathlon 10k and will offer discounted ski lift tickets.
Recreation Director Sabrina Best said the Winterfest will have most of the events that were held last year, along with some new offerings. These events will be held at Festival Plaza, Great Falls Plaza and Lost Valley.
Other attractions in downtown Auburn over the weekend will include ice-sculpting demonstrations, food trucks and fireworks.
Saturday night will wrap up with an ice-bar party, hosted by Gritty McDuff’s and Baxter Brewing Co. from 6 to 9 p.m. on Main Street. There will be live music, drinks and food under a big outdoor party tent.
“It will be heated, with an ice bar and Skosh will be playing,” Best said.
Entry tickets are $15 the night of the event; $10 if pre-purchased on the website.
L/A Arts will host events Sunday at Great Falls Plaza, including a metal-sculpting competition.
