TEMPLE — The draft of a comprehensive plan to guide the town’s growth and development will be reviewed by residents at a workshop next week.

It is set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Town Office. The snow date is Feb. 4.

The plan is the result of nearly two years of work by the Planning Board and the Comprehensive Plan Committee. Voters will decide at the annual town meeting in March whether to adopt it.

Copies are available at the Town Office or online through the link: goo.gl/73jlwH.

The plan provides information for planning and a basis for future ordinances, committee member Steve Kaiser said. The town may want to create a site review ordinance for future projects, he said.

The plan establishes preferences for development, land uses and suggestions for areas to consider for potential growth. It includes detailed data on the town’s history, population, housing, transportation, roads, land and water sources.

Committee members Barbara Collins, Janine Winn, Ronald Rackliff and Kaiser sought public input on the town’s goals through a citizen survey and other information.

The next steps are to answer any questions, consider residents’ responses and make any modifications before the town meeting, Kaiser said. If voters approve it, either in March or at a special town meeting later, the plan will be submitted to the state to determine whether it is consistent and complete, he said.
