GRAY — Stephen A. Jordan, 35, of Collyer Brook Road, died Sunday, Jan. 1, unexpectedly.
It is so rare that a light shines out from a soul and captivates all around them. That was our Steve. A freedom and joy emanated from him and would cause anyone in a room to turn and smile. He was born in Hanover, N.H., on Dec. 7, 1981. He graduated from Sunapee Middle High School, Sunapee, N.H., in 2000 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Susquehanna University , Selinsgrove, Pa., and master’s degree from the University of New England, Biddeford.
While working on his master’s degree, Steve had worked for The Haven in White River Junction, Vt., and had also been a high school English teacher for six years in New Jersey and New Hampshire. For the past five years, he was an academic adviser for Kaplan University.
He lived in Poland, before proudly buying his first home in Gray, about six months ago. Steve was a member of the ME Volleyball Association. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors such as hiking, landscaping and Tough Mudders. Steve will be remembered for many different fun and loving qualities including his spontaneity, his big heart and his sense of humor.
He is survived by his soon-to-be fiancée, Jamie Karaffa of Gray; his parents, Stephen and Marianne E. (Cummins) Jordan of Sunapee, N.H.; his sisters, Lauren Jordan of Portland, and Hilary and her husband, Jeff Roosevelt, of Sunapee, N.H.; niece and nephews, Tess, Spencer, Stevie and Jordan.
