1970 – 2017
ALTUS, Okla. — Eric Daniel Lessard, 46, of Altus, Okla., passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 7, at his home in Altus.
Eric was born in Lewiston on Nov. 16, 1970, to Ronald and Marie (King) Lessard. He grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1990. Eric married his high school sweetheart, Trisha Frechette, on Feb. 9, 1991, in Lewiston, at Bates College Chapel. They would spend the next 25½ years married and raise their wonderful son, Joshua Jake.
Eric joined the U.S. Air Force on Feb. 26, 1991. His first duty assignment was at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. He later transferred to Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas. While in the Air Force, Eric was a Crew Chief on the C-141. He received numerous medals of achievement while serving in the military. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on March 14, 1997. Eric and his family then moved back to Altus, Okla. In 1998, Eric took a civil service job at Altus Air Force Base on the flight line, joining the A-Team. He worked as a crew chief on the C-17 during his civil service career. He provided humanitarian aid by delivering supplies to Haiti with his team during the hurricane in 2010. He retired from civil service in 2011.
Eric loved spending his time in the outdoors with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and 4-wheeling. He was always willing to help out others in any way that he could.
Eric is survived by his wife, Trisha; his son, Joshua; his mother, Marie McGillivary of Missouri; his brother, Rodney Lessard of Maine; as well as several nieces and one nephew; one special uncle, Richard (Dicky) Briggs of Maine; and special friends Ron and Julie Lucus of Altus, and many other friends.
Eric was preceded in death by his grandmother, Antoinette (Mimi) Briggs; his father, Ronald Lessard; and his sister, Laurie Cookson.
Memorial services will be Friday, Jan. 13, at 5 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus.
