Two recent judicial decisions in Maine disturb me. A mother was given a 10-to-15 year sentence for manslaughter. She put her newborn baby in a box and placed it, unattended, in a cold garage. Of course, the baby died.

Didn’t the mother intend for her baby to die? Why is that not first-degree murder? Has an infant’s life become devalued? For some, I believe that to be true.

A man killed his newborn baby and received a 10-to-15 year sentence for manslaughter. It was revealed that the baby had several broken bones and ribs. The baby finally died from shaken baby syndrome.

I don’t think that man was surprised by his baby’s death. Why is that not first-degree murder? Has an infant’s life become devalued? For some Mainers, I believe that to be true.

This past November, the majority of Maine residents voted for a woman, Hillary Clinton, who believes in late-term abortion. To those deplorable people of Maine, I say that isn’t the way life should be.
