READFIELD — Senior forward Allie Belaire drained 14 points as Leavitt cruised to a 66-17 victory over Maranacook in girls’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Hornets (4-4) jumped out to a 25-5 first quarter lead before toning down the offense in the second quarter. Junior forward Rebecca Fogg added 13 points for Leavitt.

Leavitt went on to score a 34-8 margin in the second half.

Senior forward Justice Merrill posted a team-high six points for the Black Bears (0-7) in the losing effort.

Rangeley 30, Pine Tree Academy 22

FARMINGTON — Rangeley doubled up Pine Tree Academy in the second half, outscoring them 14-7 to pull away for a 30-22 victory in girls’ high school basketball Wednesday.

Natasha Haley led all scorers with 16 points, including 10 from the free-throw line. Brooke Egan contributed five points and Sydney Royce added four points in the Lakers’ (5-1) win.

Alexandra Goodman led Pine Tree Academy (3-1) with 11 points, while Emily Schlisner chipped in six in the loss.

Yarmouth 35, Poland 29

YARMOUTH — Senior guard Cory Langenbach and senior forward Johanna Hattan nailed down 10 points each as Yarmouth overcame Poland 35-29 in girls’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Knights (5-2) trailed 19-9 at the half, but went on a 15-2 run in the third quarter. Junior guard Sarah Moody tossed five 3-point field goals for Poland.

The Clippers (5-2) got some air in their sails in the fourth quarter to turn the game around, and pulled away with five consecutive foul shots to earn the win.

Oxford Hills 72, Cony 43

AUGUSTA — Erin Morton compiled 16 points as Oxford Hills sailed to a 72-43 victor over Cony in girls’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Vikings spread the offense around to nearly every player in a balanced attack. Jadah Adams contributed 11 points for Oxford Hills.

Makenzie Lewis paced the Rams with 12 points on five field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the losing effort.

Oxford Hills 64, Cony 49

PARIS — Oxford Hills got double-doubles from Matt Fleming and Atreyu Keniston and played shutdown defense in the fourth quarter to pull away from Cony in KVAC boys’ basketball action Wednesday.

Fleming finished with 23 points, Keniston had 14 points, and each hauled in 11 rebounds for the Vikings (5-3).

Jordan Roddy scored 13 of Cony’s 23 points in the third quarter as the Rams (3-4) cut a 13-point deficit to five. He finished with 25 points after Oxford Hills shut him down and held Cony to nine points in the fourth quarter.

Yarmouth 73, Poland 37

POLAND — After sprinting out to a 20-point advantage in the first frame, Yarmouth raced away to record a 73-37 rout over Poland in a boys’ basketball matchup Wednesday evening.

Nolan Hagerty led the powerhouse Clippers (6-1) with a game-high 22 points, while Alek Medenica chipped in with 12.

The Knights (2-5) were paced by Kurtis Leighton with a solid 10-point effort, while Caleb Hodgkin tallied nine.

Rangeley 57, Pine Tree Academy 40

FARMINGTON — Rangeley used a 22-7 run in the third quarter to take control and raced away to a 57-40 win over Pine Tree Academy in midseason boys’ basketball action.

Kyle LaRochelle led the Lakers (2-4) with a game-high 32 points, while Carl Trafton chipped in with eight points, seven assists and five rebounds.

Pine Tree Academy (2-2) was paced by Jean Louis with 16 points, the team’s only player to reach double figures.

St. Dom’s 13, Yarmouth 2

AUBURN — Sophomore forward Bugsy Hammerton scored four goals and assisted on two more as St. Dom’s skated to a 13-2 victory over Yarmouth in girls’ hockey action Wednesday evening.

The Saints (8-0) netted four goals in the first and third periods, and outpaced the Clippers 5-2 in the middle frame. Sophomore forward Kristina Cornelio added three goals and three assists for St. Dom’s.

Senior forward Katie Coleman guided one of Yarmouth’s two goals into the back of the net in the losing effort.

Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill 5, Cape/Waynflete/SP 4, OT

PORTLAND — Jordan Mynahan fired a shot into the net at the 3:49 mark of overtime to give Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill a 5-4 victory over Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete/South Portland in a girls’ hockey tilt Wednesday.

Veda Leclerc led the Blue Devils (4-4-1) with two goals and an assist, while Adri Roy and Jessica Clavet also tallied to complete the scoring.

Sophia Venditti led the Capers (4-5) with two goals. Kate Ginder and Eliza Connolly also scored goals. Meagan Gosselin handled netkeeping duties for Lewiston, while Abby Joy worked between the pipes for Cape Elizabeth.

Leavitt/EL/Poland 3, Falmouth 2, OT

FALMOUTH — Brianna Douctte scored an unassisted goal with 1:35 left in overtime to give Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland a 3-2 midseason win over Falmouth in a girls’ hockey tilt Wednesday evening.

Mariah Vaillancourt netted a pair of goals for the Red Hornets (6-1-1) in a well-balanced effort. Devon Sarazin and Read Carmichael each found the net for Falmouth, in the first and second periods.

Maranda Guimond made 17 saves for Leavitt/EL, while Ally Hurdman turned aside 29 shots between the pipes for Falmouth.
