OTISFIELD — The Board of Selectmen on Wednesday will review the possibility of installing an electronic road sign at the Town Office.
The board will meet at 7 p.m. at the Town Office.
Administrative Assistant Anne Pastore said an electronic road sign would inform people in real time of road closings because of weather or accidents, and would remind people of important dates, including when taxes are due.
“The sign we have now is a very old wooden sign with plastic letters that you have to insert by hand,” Pastore said. “The letters sometimes freeze inside of the sign, and when we change them, we have to leave them on the table to dry out.”
She said Selectman Rick Micklon asked for the issue to be placed on the agenda so they could discuss how an electronic sign could improve safety.
“We’ve discussed it a little bit before, so we’re putting it back on the agenda to continue discussion,” Pastore said.
“We’re thinking something similar to what Mechanic Falls has in front of their building,” she said.
Also on the agenda is discussion of 2017 goals, including preparing a budget for Town Office renovations.
