LIVERMORE — State police are searching for a man who reportedly entered a home on Federal Road early Wednesday, assaulted a resident and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police were called to 1523 Federal Road at about 2 a.m.

“The resident received significant but not life threatening injuries,” Lt. Walter Grzyb wrote in an email Wednesday. “There were two females present in the residence at the time of the incident. They were not harmed.”

A team of four troopers, including one who specializes in evidence collection, investigated throughout the day Wednesday.

They were interviewing witnesses, tracking down leads and collecting evidence, he said.

Police have been consulting with the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office.

“While we are still in the investigation stage of this incident we do not believe this is a random attack and we do not believe the general public is at risk,” Grzyb wrote. “As always, we urge all residents to take appropriate safety measures to include locking your doors and windows.”
