VIENNA — Chase away the cold and darkness this year at The 4th annual Vienna Winter Revels at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Vienna Union Hall.

The family-friendly evening will feature inspiring entertainment, hot mulled cider and snacks.

The lineup this year, introduced by “Master of the Revels” Dan Simons, includes a wonderful solstice play written, adapted and directed by Clair Dorr-Holman and the return of the wild and crazy “little people” elfing around.

Maine’s Celtic duo Castlebay, comprised of Celtic harpist/vocalist Julia Lane and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Fred Gosbee, will drive cold winter away with joyous and mysterious seasonal songs and tunes from Ireland, Scotland and the British Isles, as well as their native New England. The lilting sound of Irish flute, Celtic harp, fiddle and guitar will mingle revelry and lusty wassails with vibrant songs of mystery and wonder.

Lane, vocalist, harpist, songwriter and folklorist, has loved, sung, researched and created folk music since childhood. Gosbee, a vocalist and storyteller, plays the 12-string guitar, fiddle, viola, Irish flute and the penny-whistle. He has collected and performed folk music for more than 30 years.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children 10 and under, and free for infants. Tickets go on sale Thursday, Dec. 1. Tickets have sold out in previous years — purchase prepaid tickets by calling Dodi at 207-293-2670; Marianne at 207-293-2674; or by emailing viennaunionhall@gmail.com.
