JAY — The town has established a Facebook page to share town news, upcoming events, notices, reminders and items of interest with residents.
The site went online Nov. 9, and includes the Nov. 8 election results for Jay. As of noon Friday, the Facebook page had 86 likes.
Those interested can search Facebook for the page or log on to the town’s website at www.jay-maine.org and click the link at the bottom of the home page.
Prior to the establishment of the page, the Board of Selectpersons approved a town Communications & Social Media Policy on Oct. 24.
A note at the top of the Facebook page states: “We welcome your inquiries and courteously written comments and expect participants to treat each other, as well as our employees, with respect.”
Guidelines for commenting on the page are listed in the town’s social media policy.
Town representatives also warn that interaction on the page may be limited, so if someone needs a response quickly, they should go to the town’s website and email the appropriate person or call the office at 207-897-6785.
Among the announcements listed on Jay’s page is Santa Claus coming to the Town Office from 12 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 15. Town representatives are offering free pictures with Santa, and there will be free candy and coloring books while supplies last. Photos will be available for pickup Dec. 19 at the Town Office.
Another post reminds dog owners that 2017 licenses are available and lists information associated with costs and late fees.
