FARMINGTON — A Wilton woman pleaded guilty Monday to unlawful furnishing of cocaine.

Crystal D. Taylor, 42, made the plea to the Class C charge in Franklin County Superior Court.

A conviction is punishable by up to five years in prison and five years of probation.

Assistant Attorney General David Fisher dismissed two Class B felony charges of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. A conviction on those charges carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Taylor also forfeited $6,083 to the state. It is believed the money was either to buy drugs or was proceeds from the sale of drugs, according to court records.

If the case had gone to trial, a Maine Drug Enforcement agent would have testified that he and local police executed a search warrant on March 15 at Taylor’s apartment in Wilton.

Arder Prinkleton, 45, of Brooklyn, New York, had $1,083 in cash and 50 grams of cocaine and another $5,000 was found in a bedroom, Fisher said.

Taylor was at least an accomplice or provided sanctuary for the defendant, he said.

Officers spoke to someone leaving the apartment who told them he had just bought one gram of cocaine, Fisher said.

Taylor’s sentencing was deferred for two years under an agreement that requires her to meet a number of conditions.

“If you successfully comply with the agreement, you get rid of the felony and plead to a misdemeanor drug charge,” Justice William Stokes said. “There is a chance that you may plead to a charge that is not drug related.”

Bail was set at personal recognizance with no contact with Prinkleton until after his case is resolved.
