What I miss from the good old days of yore:

Ice fishing on Saturdays on Taylor Pond, then cooking the “catch of the day,” be it perch, pickerel or trout, rolled in flour then cooked in bacon fat.

Saying toll house cookies.

Saying spaghetti, linguini, et. al., instead of “pasta.”

Mustard in jars and ketchup in bottles.

Dungarees (a word of India).

Coffee being opened with a can opener.

Zarex, Nehi, Hi C, Fresca.

100 percent wool and cotton clothing.

Cigar, Bazooka and Swell bubble gum.

Yes, I could go to the land of the Internet and find all of those, but it just wouldn’t cut the (dijon) mustard.

Barbara Kern, Auburn
