JAY — Spruce Mountain High School has listed upcoming events for Nov. 7-26.
JMG I & I Ceremony: Barbara Jewett’s Job’s For Maine Graduates class will hold an initiation and installation ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. with the ceremony to follow.
Picture re-takes: Students who missed the first picture day or were unhappy with their pictures can have re-takes on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Veteran’s Day: Friday, Nov. 11, is a holiday in recognition of Veteran’s Day. There will be no school for all schools in RSU 73.
Parent/teacher conferences: SMHS will hold parent/teacher conferences on Tuesday, Nov. 15, and Wednesday, Nov. 16. Parents are asked to call the high school office to schedule appointments to meet with teachers.
Winter sports: The first day of winter athletic practices for girls and boys basketball and cheering will begin on Monday, Nov. 21. Alpine and Nordic ski practices will begin the following week.
NHS induction: The National Honor Society will host its induction ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, in the SMHS Library.
Thanksgiving break: All schools in RSU 73 will be closed Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 23 to 25, for Thanksgiving break.
Jake Lord Play It Safe Foundation alumni basketball: Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday Nov. 25, the SMHS Boosters, along with Jenna Lord, will sponsor alumni basketball games. The SMHS boys team will play the alumni at 5 p.m.; the SMHS girls team will play the alumni at 6:30 p.m.; and the Jay alumni and the Livermore Falls alumni will play at 7:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted.
