FARMINGTON — Foster Career and Technical Education Center, New Ventures of Maine, the Franklin County Network and the Wilton CareerCenter are offering four career-centered events Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Mt. Blue Campus.

8-11 a.m.: Totally Trades, sponsored by New Ventures Maine. This program is designed for ninth-grade girls from Mt. Blue (Farmington), Spruce Mountain (Jay), Rangeley and Mt. Abram (Salem Township) high schools. It offers hands-on workshop experiences in nontraditional careers for females. Organizers are looking for businesses to provide a workshop opportunity for the students to experience some aspect of the profession through a practical exercise, such as building a tool box, operating heavy equipment and making something in a welding lab. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.: Career Expo, sponsored by Foster Career and Technical Education Center and Mt. Blue High School Jobs for Maine Graduates. Last year’s event connected more than 70 businesses and 900 students from Mt. Blue High School and Mt. Blue Middle School, and partner schools with the Foster center. Students travel around the campus to review potential college and career choices. Organizers are looking for businesses and post-secondary training representatives to provide information about opportunities in their field. 2-4 p.m.: Employer Symposium, “Meeting the Challenges of Hiring and Retaining Employees,” sponsored by Franklin County Network. The keynote speaker will offer highlights about onboarding new employees, new overtime rules and recruiting locally. Networking opportunity.
