What is the most pressing problem in your district and what do you plan to do about it?
I most commonly hear concerns about the heroin epidemic, jobs and our roads. I will continue to support legislation that aids enforcement and treatment when addressing the heroin crisis. I will also support legislation that promotes a strong fiscal economy in order to attract jobs and allow for road improvement.

Gov. Paul LePage wants to eliminate the state income tax. Do you support that? If not, why not?
I support the concept and would want to see the proposal in full before making any final decision.

Are you willing to support raising the fuel tax to fix Maine roads? If not, why not?
It would be beneficial to see a report for the past 25 years that compares the amount of miles the state now maintains in comparison to municipalities, as well as the amount of traffic these roads are seeing along with annual budgets before making any final decision.

The relationship between the governor and the Legislature has deteriorated over the past six years. What can the Legislature do to improve that relationship?
I do not believe it is only the relationship between the Legislature and the governor that has deteriorated, but also the relationship between political parties as well as between elected officials and the public. We need to return to civility, respect and refrain from personal attacks to further an agenda.

What methods do you support to reduce opiate addiction in Maine?
I believe we first need to answer the question of why does an individual turn to drug use. What causes the use that leads to the addiction? I don’t believe we can legislate our way to a reduction in addiction until we understand what prompts and drives the use.

How are you voting on the referendum questions?
