This is the Ramblers’ last regular season game before a season-ending bye week. The lowly Black Bears are unfortunately the opponent that Winthrop/Monmouth will look to end the season strong against. At least the home fans should leave the game happy.

LEAVITT (1-5) AT SPRUCE MOUNTAIN (4-2)

The Hornets won this inter-class matchup 48-10 last year. This is a very different Leavitt team, but the Phoenix still had this one circled on their calendars prior to the season. It could mean huge Crabtree points for them. For the Hornets, this might be their last chance at getting into the playoffs.

POLAND (1-5) AT MOUNTAIN VALLEY (3-3)

Friday, 7 p.m.

The Falcons got back on track last week. That’s bad news for a Knights team has gotten rolled over by Spruce Mountain and Fryeburg since its lone win. Poland will have to match Mountain Valley’s physicality to have any chance.

DEERING (2-4) AT EDWARD LITTLE (2-4)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Both of these teams have already solidified a postseason berth (unless something crazy happens), but a win in this matchup could mean a home playoff game is still within reach. The story on repeat for the Red Eddies is can they finish a game strong. This is their home finale, so they’ll be motivated to do so.

WINDHAM (3-3) AT OXFORD HILLS/BUCKFIELD (3-3)

Friday, 7 p.m.

A Vikings team that won just one game last year is now on a two-game winning streak. But now its faces an Eagles team whose three defeats have come against teams with a combined one loss this season. This one should be hard-hitting.

OAK HILL (3-2) AT DIRIGO (3-2)

Friday, 7 p.m.

The Raiders have gone from a 24-game winning streak to a two-game losing streak against Class D South’s top two teams. These two teams currently sit tied for third. Expect power-running, solid defense and a coaching chess match between Dirigo’s Jim Hersom and Oak Hill’s Stacen Doucette.

WELLS (6-0) AT GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER (0-6)

Friday, 7 p.m.

The Patriots finish off a two-game stretch against Class C South’s twin towers, in Cape Elizabeth (a 57-0 loss) and the Warriors. The question is if Gray-NG can keep it closer than last week. It seems that Wells and Cape Elizabeth have had a points-scoring competition heading into their week eight clash.

LEWISTON (1-5) AT MASSABESIC (0-6)

Friday, 7 p.m.

The Blue Devils lost this matchup at home last year, giving the Mustangs their lone win. Lewiston doesn’t want a repeat of that this season. And a win sets up a week eight rivalry clash with Edward Little for both bragging rights and playoff positioning.

MT. BLUE (2-4) AT BRUNSWICK (6-0)

Mt. Blue coach Jim Aylward said during preseason that he wanted his team to be playing its best football heading into the final two weeks. The Cougars have won two straight, but the Dragons are a different animal than Gardiner and Nokomis. Looks like it could be back to reality.

LISBON (4-1) AT OLD ORCHARD BEACH (3-2)

Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

The Greyhounds got to see the Seagulls in the preseason, so there should be no surprises. Lisbon is playing its best football right now, but a surprise upset of sorts could throw off the Greyhounds’ momentum. It would also put OOB into the mix for a high playoff seed.
