LISBON — Kellen True scored the game-winning goal as Telstar grabbed a 2-1 victory over Lisbon in MVC boys’ soccer action Saturday.

The Rebels (5-5-1) scored two goals early in the second half.

The Greyhounds (7-2-2) held an advantage in possession but just couldn’t finish. Senior forward Ryley Austin cut the deficit in half on a goal with 30 minutes remaining in regulation.

Goalie Jonah Sautter made one save for Lisbon, while Boston Eliot turned away five to earn the win in net for Telstar.

Oak Hill 4, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD — Colin Picket opened up the scoring with a penalty kick as Oak Hill delivered a 4-0 victory over Dirigo in boys’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders (3-8) led 3-0 at the half. Evan Boston and Ethan Ivy added goals in the first half, and Nate Ashton tallied an insurance score in the second half.

Goalie Justin Grignon made 16 saves for the Cougars (1-10), while Marcus Bailey stopped seven for Oak Hill in the winning effort.

Hebron 5, Brewster 1

HEBRON — Junior forward Justin Bell recorded two goals and an assist to lead Hebron to a 5-1 victory over Brewster in boys’ soccer action Saturday.

The Bobcats (1-5-1) scored first, just four minutes into the game.

The Lumberjacks (5-0) responded with five unanswered goals. Junior midfielder Michael Tahiru netted a goal and two assists.

Nathan Clark made 13 saves for Brewster, while Madhurane Muthumkumaraswany warded off three to earn the win in net for Hebron.

Buckfield 1, Greater Portland Christian 0

PORTLAND — Matt Beaucage scored the lone goal in the game to lift Buckfield to a 1-0 victory over Greater Portland Christian Academy in boys’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.

The Bucks (8-2-1) were dominant on offense, outshooting their opponent 40-5 in the matchup.

Goalie Mason Jones made 18 saves for Greater Portland Christian Academy, while Jake Kraske stopped one for Buckfield.

Gould 4, Hebron 1

HEBRON — Junior midfielder Cassie Lieblein scored two goals to lead Gould to a 4-1 victory over Hebron in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Alaia Singh scores the Lumberjacks’ (3-3) first goal just 53 seconds into the game.

The Huskies (5-2) responded with a penalty kick goal seven minutes before the half, and took the lead for good with another tally three minutes after the break.

Goalie Taylor Leech made five saves for Hebron, while Priscila Berdeja fended off six for Gould.

Leavitt 3, Spruce Mountain 0

TURNER — Junior striker Nikki Daigle scored a pair of goals to lead Leavitt to a 3-0 victory over Spruce Mountain in KVAC girls’ soccer action Saturday.

The Hornets (5-5-2) applied heavy pressure with 19 shots on goal.

Goalie Calley Baker made 15 saves, including three on breakaways, to keep the scoring close for the Phoenix (1-10).

Shelby Varney and Allie Roux shared keeper duties for Leavitt, making one save each in the winning effort.

Oak Hill 7, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD — Sydney Drew scored a hat trick as Oak Hill cruised to a 7-0 victory over Dirigo in girls’ soccer action Saturday.

The Raiders led 5-0 at intermission. Lydia Therrien chipped in with two goals for Oak Hill.

Goalie Katie Morse made 11 saves for the Cougars (1-10-1), while Cassidy Tibbetts averted two to earn the win in net for Oak Hill.

Field hockey

Poland 5, Gray-New Gloucester 2

POLAND — Alexis Morey scored a pair of goals as Poland bushed aside Gray-New Gloucester 5-2 in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

The Knights led 2-0 at the midpoint. Brianna Doucette, Higera Nawass and Hwida Nawass rounded out the scoring for Poland.

Cara Waltz and Madison Post netted second-half goals 30 seconds apart for the Patriots in the losing effort.

St. Dom’s 2, Traip 1, OT

AUBURN — Hannah Trottier-Braun scored both goals, including a tally with just one minute remaining in overtime, as St. Dom’s edged Traip 2-1 in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

Trottier-Braun scored the first goal for the Saints (10-2-1) with 16:50 remaining in the second half.

Kiara Perez found the back of the net for the Rangers (10-2-1) with 8:30 left in regulation.

Goalie Nicole Roberts made eight saves for Traip, while Abby Slonina prevented two two earn the win in net for St. Dom’s.

Mt. Ararat 2, Lewiston 1

TOPSHAM — Porter Glavin and Abby Malvon each scored a goal for Mt. Ararat as the Eagles downed Lewiston 2-1 in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

Jazy Duman converted a relay from Kasey Talarico in the second half for the Blue Devils (1-12).

Goalies Ashley Cronkhite and Jillian Labbe combined for nine saves for Lewiston, while goalkeeper Haley Frizzle repelled six to earn the win in net for the Eagles (4-9).

Winthrop 2, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD — Breanna Feeney’s first-half goal was all Winthrop needed to dispatch Dirigo 2-0 in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

Kat Hayduk converted a relay from Sara Spahr in the second half for an insurance tally for the Rebels.

Goalie Morgan Morrow made seven saves for the Cougars, while Corinna Coulton foiled three to earn the win in net for Winthrop.

Men’s soccer

Connecticut College 2, Bates 1 , 2 OT

LEWISTON — First-year Peder Bakken scored his first career goal for the Bates men’s soccer team, but the Bobcats fell to Connecticut College in double overtime, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at Russell Street Field.

The game-winning goal for the Camels (8-2) came only two minutes and 55 seconds into the second overtime, as Pat Devlin scored for the second time in the match.

The Bobcats (3-6-2) brought in Bakken off the bench in the 27th minute and Drew Munoz in the 35th minute.

Then in the 38th minute, Munoz and Bakken made their mark when the sophomore backer notched the first assist of his career on Bakken’s goal.

Women’s soccer

Connecticut College 1, Bates 0

LEWISTON — Emmy McGoldrick’s goal in the final second of the first half stood up as the game-winner as Connecticut College defeated the Bates College women’s soccer team 1-0 Saturday afternoon.

The Camels (8-1) outshot the Bobcats (2-8-1) by an 18-6 margin and held an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

Goalie Sarah McCarthy finished with five saves for Bates, while Bryanna Montalvo had one save for Connecticut College in the winning effort.

College field hockey

Bates 1, Connecticut College 0, OT

LEWISTON — Lauren Foster scored her first career goal on a penalty corner in the eighth minute of overtime, lifting the Bates College field hockey team to a 1-0 NESCAC win over Connecticut College on Saturday.

The rivals battled to a 0-0 draw through 70 minutes of regulation, despite a 9-2 advantage in shots for the Bobcats (6-5).

The Camels (1-9) earned the first two penalty corners of the overtime period. The Bates defense rose to the occasion on the first shot, and goalie Adelae Durand made the save on Jacqueline Murphy’s shot on the next to preserve the tie.

Bates earned a corner 6:35 into overtime. Foster inserted the ball to Lough and received a pass back to the left of the Camels’ goal, and her shot found the back of the cage to end the game.

College fall baseball

CMCC Wins Yankee Fall Classic

SOUTH PORTLAND — Evan Roberts and Kyle Moore pitched nine-inning outings to earn a pair of shutouts, 3-0 and 2-0, as Central Maine Community College won the 2016 Yankee Fall Classic.

Roberts struck out nine and allowed just two hits in Game 1 against the New Hampshire Technical Institute.

The Mustangs’ offense was led by Brandon Varney and Mike Muise, who had two hits each. Moore had a double. Alex Biron, Austin Wing and Muise produced an RBI apiece.

Moore struck out one and scattered six hits, throwing only 75 pitches, against Southern Maine Commnity College in Game 2.

The Mustangs turned six double plays defensively. Matthew Tremble, Trent Spaulding, Bryce Walker and Biron each had two hits. Biron and Spaulding recorded doubles. Barney and Biron produced a run batted in each.
