LEWISTON — Laurier and Florence Boulet of Lewiston celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 24. The couple was married on June 24, 1961 at Holy Family Church.
A surprise private celebration was planned by their children, James Boulet and wife, Nicole, Linda Lacombe and husband, Michael, and Steve Boulet and wife, Lisa. The couple also has nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The celebration started with a renewal of their vows at Holy Family Church. The couple was chauffeured to church and Mr. Boulet walked his wife down the aisle to the altar, as he has done almost every year on their anniversary since the day they were married. Their vows were renewed by the Rev. Albert Roux, brother of Mrs. Boulet. In attendance were their children and spouses, along with Mrs. Boulet’s sister, Yvonne Roux.
After church, the celebration continued with dinner at Fish Bones. They were served by one of their grandchildren, Tiana Lacombe.
On the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary, they traveled to New York City with their children and grandchildren for a weekend. One year later, Mr. Boulet suffered a severe stroke. If it were not for the prayers of family and friends and the love and care of his wife, the couple would not be celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary this year.
