As in past letters to the editor, I am writing to share experiences in Lewiston-Auburn that bring me a state of peace and joy in the midst of confusing times in American life and in the world.

Two experiences offered to the community at large at Bates College happened recently. The Bates Museum of Art has an extraordinary presentation of the work of Robert Indiana, Now and Then, and Jay Bolotin: The Book of Only Enoch. The exhibit ends Oct. 8; it is a must to see.

Bates also presented an evening of jazz featuring the Bob Degen Trio. It was spectacular and I am so glad I took my Friday evening to experience an art form that has not always been on the top of the charts for me. Brilliance flowed from the artists.

I thank Bates College for giving me time to regroup for what more is to come my way in the time that I do not find comfortable.
